DR. CESAR PAZ Y MINO

César Paz-y-Miño, M.D. PH.D. is Dean of  Biomedical Research Institute of Medical Faculty of University of Americas (UDLA) Ecuador. He is a member of the Academy of Medicine of Ecuador, and Ex-President of the Human Genetic Society of Ecuador.

Dr. Paz-y-Miño's laboratory focuses on the study of the role of genes in the origin of cancers. His research has looked at leukemia, lymphomas, and uterine, nervous system, prostate, and bladder cancers, among others; specifically, at the relationships between genetic variations in populations, exposure to toxic agents such as pesticides, radiation and some medicines, and manifestation of cancers.

Dr. Paz-y- Miño's research has been published in 40 articles in international journals, 100 articles in national journals and in seven books. Dr. Paz-y- Miño's laboratory periodically organizes courses of professional training in the area of Human Genetics, in addition to ongoing academic activities.

Dr. Paz-y-Miño was elected to the PBC Board in September of 2005.
