DR. TAO SHU

Peking University, China

After graduating from Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas with MS and Ph.D. degrees in Environmental Science and Health, Dr. Tao joined the Peking University Faculty in 1984. In 2009 Dr Shu was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Science.

Dr Tao is the Cheung Kong Professor and Dean of the College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Peking University. He chairs the subcommittee of Environmental & Chemical Geography, Chinese Geography Association and also serves on several international journal editorial boards.

Dr Tao's current research is focused on the fate of exposure and risk assessment of persistent organic pollutants and has over 200 papers published in peer-reviewed international journals. The publications cover a number of fields including bioavailability of trace elements and persistent organic pollutants, aquatic humic substances, fate and multimedia, fate modeling of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and organochlorine pesticides.

Dr. Tao was elected to the Board of the Pacific Basin Consortium in February 2008.
