PROFESSOR KYOUNG-WOONG KIM Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, S. Korea Professor Kyoung-Woong Kim is currently the Dean of School of Environmental Science and Engineering and Professor of Environmental Geochemistry at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, Korea. He is the former Director of the International Environment Research Center (UNU-GIST Joint Program) and Director of the Center for International Students and Scholars (CISS), GIST. Professor Kim is the recipient of numerous awards including the Prime Minister Commendation for Scientific Achievement, 2005, Republic of Korea; the Award for Academic Achievement, 2005, Korean Society for Geosystem Engineering, Korea; the Best Paper Award, 2004, Korea Environment Institute; the Excellent Paper Award, 2003, The Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies; and the Government Award for Scientific Achievement, 2003, Ministry of Science and Technology, Korea. He is an Editorial Board Member of Environmental Geochemistry and Health (SCI Journal); an Editorial Board Member of Journal of Environmental Sciences (SCI Journal); an Editorial Board Member of Geochemical Journal (SCI Journal); a Steering Committee Member for the Asia-Pacific Branch of the Society for Environmental Geochemistry and Health; an FGS (Fellow, Geological Society of London); an International Committee Member of ICOBTE; a Steering Committee Member of KSEEG (General Secretary) and a member of IAGC. Dr. Kim is the author of more than 70 peer-reviewed articles in international journals and many more in Korean journals as well as one book and several book chapters. Dr. Kim received his Ph.D. from the Imperial College, University of London, Centre for Environmental Technology in 1993 and his M.Sc. from Seoul National University ( Korea) in Mineral and Petroleum Engineering in 1989. Dr. Kim was elected to the Board of the Consortium in February 2008.
