DR. MARIANO CEBRIAN

Center for Research and Advanced Studies (CINVESTAV), Mexico

Dr. Mariano E. Cebrian was the founder of the Toxicology Section at Cinvestav, Mexico. He was member of the Arsenic Risk Assessment Forum (EPA); Chairman of the Working Group on Metals “Regional Program on Environmental Epidemiology in Latin America and the Caribbean” (PAHO/WHO); and Member of the Arsenic Technical Committee of the American Water Work Association Research Foundation (AWWARF). Dr. Cebrian is also a member of the Expert Advisory Board on Children’s Health and the Environment of the North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC); and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journals Toxicology, Environmental Research and Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology.

Dr. Cebrian's research interests are related to the characterization of the adverse health effects resultant from exposure to metals and pesticides. He is currently involved with the University of Arizona in developing a US/Mexico Binational Center for Environmental Studies and Toxicology.

He was appointed to the board of the Pacific Basin Consortium in July 2004.

Dr. Cebrian received his M.D. from the University of Coahuila, Mexico; MSc. from CINVESTAV, Mexico; Diploma in toxicology from the British Industrial Biological Research Association (U.K) and his PhD from the University of Surrey (U.K).
