The Pacific Basin Consortium has promoted information exchange and cooperative research on issues related to environmental pollutants and human health for more than two decades through twelve international conferences and numerous training programs held throughout the Pacific Basin region.
As a growing body of scientific work points to the connections between environmental contaminants and adverse human health effects, it becomes ever more important that people share research and ideas across disciplines and national borders to develop effective and affordable strategies to address these problems.
The PBC's 12th International Conference 'Environment & Health in the 21st Century: Challenges & Solutions ' was held in Beijing, China in October of 2007. The 13th international conference, 'Environmental Exposures in the Era of Climate Change', to be held in Perth, Western Australia in November of 2009 will continue the PBC's efforts to engage scientists, engineers, policy makers, government representatives, industry and others in discussions on how best to address the environmental health challenges of today and tomorrow.
